Parent Letter

Dear Parents:

Thank you for allowing your child to participate in the AWANA Program.  The heart of AWANA is the gospel message:

  • Romans 3:23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
  • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

AWANA strongly emphasizes memorizing and understanding Scripture.  The name AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from 2 Timothy 2:15:  Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Realizing that today's children are confronted with more difficult decisions than ever before, it is our goal to help them establish a firm foundation that provides direction for their daily lives.  AWANA presents an opportunity for your child to establish his or her relationship with god and grow in it, as well as a chance to build self-esteem and develop good relationships with others.

All Clubs start promptly at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8:00p.m. each Wednesday.  Each Club is uniquely tailored to the appropriate age and stage of development.  Every club night will consist of the following areas:

·        Game Time - Clubbers will be running, jumping, cheering, etc., in team competition.  All games take place outside (weather permitting).  Therefore, we ask clubbers to wear pants or shorts and TENNIS SHOES.

·        Handbook Time - The clubber recites verses or sections in his/her book to his/her leader.  Clubbers may be asked to explain a verse in his/her own words after reciting it.  This helps promote retention, memorization, and understanding.

·        Council Time - This is a time of worship, singing, testimonies, and Bible stories.  Clubbers also receive recognition for handbook achievements during this time.

We are looking to God for a great club year!  If you have any questions, concerns, or if your child has special needs, please feel free to attend any club activity, or call me at 903-433-9604.

If you do not have a church home, we invite you to visit our church.  Sunday school meets at 9:00 a.m. and morning worship service is at 10:30 a.m.  Sunday evening service is at 6:30 p.m.  We also have an adult Bible study meeting at 6:30 on Wednesday evening.

                                                                        God Bless You,
